Castle Hill Tax Planning Questions

How much does a tax accountant cost in Castle Hill?

A personal return is priced separately from a tax planning review or a household package that includes company and trust returns. SAQCH Partners agrees a fixed fee before any work starts. Fees for tax advice from a registered tax agent are generally deductible in the following year.

How can high-income earners reduce tax legally?

The main legal levers are deductible or salary-sacrificed super contributions within the caps, claiming every allowable deduction with good records, timing income and expenses around 30 June, salary packaging where your employer offers it, and holding investments in the right names or structures.

What is Division 293 tax?

Division 293 is an extra 15% tax on concessional super contributions for people whose income plus those contributions exceed $250,000. It brings the total tax on those contributions to 30%, which is still usually lower than the top marginal rate. The ATO issues a separate notice for it.

Can I make catch-up super contributions?

Yes, if your total super balance was under $500,000 at the previous 30 June. You can use unused concessional cap from up to five earlier years, which can allow a much larger deductible contribution in a high-income year or the year you sell an asset.

Can I meet a tax accountant near Castle Hill?

Yes. We work with Hills District clients online and by phone, and in person at our Parramatta Square office, about 25 minutes from Castle Hill.

A tax planning review makes sense if you…

  • Earn over $135,000 and haven't reviewed your super contributions.
  • Received a Division 293 notice from the ATO.
  • Are planning to retire, sell the family home or downsize.
  • Have unused super cap from previous years.

The best time to plan is before 30 June. Book a tax planning review.

Why Castle Hill Clients Choose Tax Planning, Not Just Tax Returns

Because at higher incomes, planning saves far more than lodging. Many Castle Hill and Hills District households include professionals, executives and business owners on the top tax rates, often with significant super balances and retirement on the horizon. The biggest legal savings come from super contribution strategy, the timing of income and deductions, and getting the retirement transition right.

We provide tax advice. Where you need advice on choosing a super fund or investment product, we work alongside your licensed financial adviser. Our tax agent registration can be checked on the Tax Practitioners Board register.

How much tax does a deductible super contribution save?

Tax saving = contribution × (your marginal rate + Medicare levy − 15% contributions tax)

Example: someone on the 37% rate plus 2% Medicare levy who makes a $20,000 deductible contribution saves 39% − 15% = 24%, or $4,800 in tax, and the full amount stays invested for retirement. The contribution must fit within their concessional cap.

Castle Hill Tax Questions

Tax Accountant in Castle Hill FAQs

Answers on salary sacrifice, notices of intent, spouse contributions, Division 293, downsizer contributions, retirement income tax and choosing an adviser.

12 questions

Both are taxed at 15% in the fund and count towards the same cap. Salary sacrifice comes out before tax through payroll, while a personal contribution is made from your bank account and claimed in your return. A personal contribution gives more flexibility to contribute later in the year.
Before you claim a personal super contribution as a deduction, you must give your fund a notice of intent and receive its acknowledgement, generally before lodging your return. Without it, the deduction can be denied.
Yes. If your spouse has a low income, a contribution to their super may entitle you to a tax offset of up to $540. Spouse contributions can also help balance super between partners.
If you're 55 or older and sell a home you've owned for at least ten years, you and your spouse may each contribute up to $300,000 of the proceeds to super. These don't count towards the contribution caps, but must be made within 90 days of settlement.
From age 60, payments from a taxed super fund, including account-based pensions, are generally tax-free. Income earned on investments outside super is still taxed at your marginal rates, so the split between the two matters.
It depends on your tax rate, interest rate, age and when you need the money, because super is generally locked until retirement. We model the tax effect of each, and your financial adviser can cover the investment side.
Business owners usually combine salary, dividends and employer super. The right mix depends on your personal tax rate, the company tax rate and your super caps, and we plan it before 30 June.
No. We provide tax advice and tax planning. Advice about which super fund, investment or insurance product to choose must come from a licensed financial adviser, and we're happy to work with yours.
May or early June is ideal. That leaves time to make contributions, prepay expenses or time income before 30 June, when most opportunities for the year close.
Yes. We prepare company, trust and partnership returns alongside personal returns, so the whole household's tax position is planned together.
We help clients in Castle Hill, Cherrybrook, West Pennant Hills, Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Bella Vista, Norwest, Baulkham Hills and across The Hills District.
Yes. SAQCH Partners is a registered tax agent and can lodge your returns and deal with the ATO for you. Our registration can be confirmed on the Tax Practitioners Board public register.
